Clear rules for a sensitive service

Terms of Use

These terms govern your access to Harbor's website, mobile application, identity exposure reports, monitoring features, and subscriptions.

Effective date
Please read these terms carefully

Harbor surfaces potential security exposures for awareness and self-protection. Results can be incomplete or wrong, and the Services are not a substitute for professional legal, financial, credit, or identity-theft advice.

1. Agreement and eligibility

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Harbor Security ("Harbor," "we," "us," or "our"). They apply to our websites, mobile applications, and related services that link to them (collectively, the "Services"). By creating an account, starting a scan, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a contract to use the Services. If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" includes that organization.

2. The Harbor service

Harbor helps you understand where information associated with your identity may appear in breach archives, credential collections, public records, data-broker listings, and other security intelligence sources. The Services may provide findings, a security posture score, educational guidance, rescans, and monitoring for newly discovered information.

Features, data sources, coverage, and availability may change over time. Some features require a paid subscription, a supported device, or a verified account.

3. Authorized identity lookups

You may submit only your own information or information you are expressly authorized by the individual to use. Before a scan, you may be required to verify control of an email address and confirm your authority to conduct the lookup. Verification does not grant permission to investigate another person.

You are responsible for having a lawful basis for every lookup and for using results only to protect the relevant individual. You may not use Harbor to investigate, monitor, profile, threaten, embarrass, discriminate against, or make eligibility decisions about another person.

4. Accounts and security

You agree to provide accurate information, keep it current, and maintain the security of your account, email, devices, and authentication methods. You are responsible for activity under your account. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.

If you use Google or another third-party sign-in method, your use of that provider is also subject to its terms and policies. You may not transfer, sell, or share access to your Harbor account.

5. Subscriptions, trials, and billing

  • Paid plans. Current features, prices, billing periods, and any trial terms are shown before purchase. Taxes may apply.
  • Automatic renewal. A recurring subscription renews automatically for the same billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date. If you begin a free trial, it converts to a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends.
  • Cancellation. You may cancel at any time through the app store, payment provider, or account setting used to purchase the plan. Cancellation stops future renewals; access generally continues through the paid period.
  • Refunds. Except where required by law or the applicable store's rules, fees are nonrefundable and we do not provide credits for a partially used period. The store or payment provider may be responsible for refund decisions.
  • Changes. We may change plan features or prices. We will provide notice of material price changes as required, and a new price will apply no earlier than your next renewal after the notice period.

6. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • scan or monitor someone without their express authorization;
  • use findings to access an account, reuse credentials, or exploit a vulnerability;
  • harass, stalk, threaten, deceive, discriminate against, or harm another person;
  • use the Services for employment, housing, credit, insurance, tenant screening, or another eligibility decision;
  • violate privacy, computer misuse, intellectual property, or other laws;
  • scrape, crawl, harvest, bulk-query, resell, sublicense, or build a competing database from the Services;
  • reverse engineer, bypass access or payment controls, probe nonpublic systems, introduce malicious code, or interfere with the Services; or
  • use automation except through an interface we expressly authorize in writing.

We may investigate suspected misuse and cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.

7. Important limitations of findings

Harbor aggregates and organizes information from many sources that we do not control. Results may contain false positives or false negatives, refer to a different person, omit an exposure, duplicate information, or be outdated. A high posture score does not mean your information or accounts are secure, and no alert is a guarantee that Harbor will identify every past or future incident.

Harbor is not a consumer reporting agency, and the Services are not "consumer reports" under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You may not use the Services to determine a person's eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose governed by consumer-reporting law.

The Services provide general security information, not legal, financial, credit, investigative, or identity-theft remediation advice. You are responsible for evaluating findings, verifying important information with the original source, and deciding what action to take. Never attempt to log in with credentials shown in a finding.

8. Ownership, feedback, and third parties

Harbor materials

Harbor and its licensors own the Services, including software, design, text, branding, and other materials, excluding information you provide and third-party source material. Subject to these Terms, Harbor grants you a personal, limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable, revocable license to use the Services for your own lawful security awareness.

Your information and feedback

You retain any rights you have in information you submit. You grant Harbor permission to host, process, compare, and display that information as needed to provide, secure, and improve the Services in accordance with our Privacy Policy. If you send feedback, you permit us to use it without restriction or compensation.

Third-party services and sources

The Services may rely on or link to third-party sign-in, payment, app-store, public-record, security-intelligence, and remediation resources. Harbor does not control and is not responsible for third-party content, availability, accuracy, security, or practices. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider's terms.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. You may request account deletion by emailing [email protected]; deleting an account does not itself cancel a subscription managed through an app store or other payment provider.

We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure, failed to pay applicable fees, or used the Services in a way that could harm Harbor, our providers, or others. Where practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and general legal terms.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available." Harbor disclaims all express or implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, noninfringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Harbor does not warrant that every exposure will be found, that findings are accurate, or that recommended steps will prevent harm.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Harbor and its affiliates, officers, employees, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, credentials, revenue, profits, goodwill, or security, arising from or related to the Services, even if advised that such damages are possible.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Harbor's total liability for all claims arising from or related to the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to Harbor for the Services during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers or limits, so portions of this section may not apply to you.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Harbor and its affiliates, officers, employees, and service providers from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your unauthorized lookup, misuse of findings, violation of these Terms, or violation of another person's rights.

11. General terms

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where the law where you live requires otherwise. Courts with jurisdiction in California will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, unless applicable consumer law permits you to bring a claim elsewhere.

Changes

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Services or law. We will post the revised Terms, update the effective date, and provide additional notice of material changes when required. Changes apply prospectively. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Services before the changes take effect.

Additional terms

These Terms and any purchase terms presented to you form the entire agreement about the Services. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be modified only as much as necessary, and the rest will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; Harbor may assign them as part of a reorganization or business transaction. Section headings are for convenience only.
